Viele Flavias auf der Via Flavia

Viele Flavias auf der Via Flavia

12 Mrz, 2017

  • Treffpunkt in Grado – erstes Abendessen in Marano
  • Besichtigung von Aquilea, Palmanova und Strassoldo
  • Besichtigung Schloss Duino (R.M. Rilke) und Abend in Triest
  • Besichtigung Schloss Miramare, Parade auf der Piazza dell’Unita, Stadtrundgang und Galadinner in Triest.

Schloß Miramare – Österreichische Geschichte in Norditalien

I hope you understand my translation, if not, please look only on the Images.

So many Flavias on the Via Flavia

In July 2010 we informed the readers of lancianews about the activities for the 50-year-anniversary of the Lancia Flavia which were organized by Lancisti from Germany and the Netherlands with some help from Italian friends – look at “Aktuelles” – “50 Jahre Lancia Flavia”.

Angela Verschoor from the Netherlands wrote the book “Lancia Flavia 1960 – 1974” which was published in July 2010 – please look at http://www.flavia50.com/pages_de.html , where you can order your copy of this very interesting book. There was also the announcement of the meeting round Trieste on September 23rd to 26th 2010.

„Must have“ for all Lancia-friends – four languages!!

The program for this meeting was very attractive for people from outside of Italy

  • Start in Grado on the coast – first dinner at Marano
  • Visit of the historic towns of Aquiliea, Palmanova and Strassoldo
  • Visit of Castle Duino
  • Visit of Castle Miramare, parade on the Piazza dell’Unitá in Trieste
  • Candlelight-dinner in Trieste.

The coast near Castle of Miramare, it also rains in Northern Italy!

Trieste was the centre of this Flavia meeting, because the ancient Roman road “Via Flavia” built by the Roman emperor Vespasian of the Flavia-family 78 a. C. connected the Roman provinces Venetia with Histria, Dalmatia and Greece. Today the successor road SS15 is only 11,264 km long and ends at the border of Slovenia, but the name Via Flavia is still alive.

Lined up for the visit of Castle Miramare

On 23rd of September 2010 about 25 Flavias from all over Europe arrived at Grado. They came mostly from the North of Europe: Great Britain, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark and Sweden. No cars from Italian and Austria.

Sorry, no „Sole mio“ before miday!

But three Lancisti from Austria came to Trieste with their very civil no-Lancia-cars and met the participants at castle Miramare to see all the wonderful Flavias. But there was no way to join the Flavias at the Piazza dell’Unitá – only historic Cars allowed!

So we don’t have images from this parade, but some others from cabriolets, coupés, Sport and Berlinas – they don’t need this background – Viva Flavia on the Via Flavia.

It’s a long way from Sweden to Trieste!
